Another Saturday Night

Finished listening to Steve Martin's "The Pleasure Of My Company" in the car today. I'm not sure if I would have enjoyed it if I had to read it, but listening to it, I enjoyed it immensely. He was still being his high-brow self, the reason I couldn't get through "Shopgirl."

Wrote eight pages of the novel today. Up to 125 pages. Or 123. Anyway. It's getting there. I was at first concerned that it wouldn't be long enough, and now, I'm not quite sure when it will end.

But, at least that means it may actually be considered a novel.

Boomerang Kids Keep Coming Home

CBS News | Boomerang Kids Keep Coming Home | January 9, 2004

Now I feel slightly less the loser! There's more poor people stuck with their parents? It's a broke man's revolution!

Oh Dear

Too Much Light

Just finished Al Franken's book with the incredibly long title. I enjoyed his anecdotes more than his technical goverment speak. Technical government speak makes the head dizzy. I know BushCo is destroying our country, and now I have numbers I'll never remember to back it up.

Man, the big picture just depresses me to no end.

But, really, the anecdotes are great.

It's All A Matter Of How It Feels

Seriously? Can I die now? Is that too much to ask? Another night of insomnia? I creep closer and closer to feeling like Ben Hawkins did on Carnivale. I get hour long naps in, but unless I'm drugged I can't get sleep. To make it all worse, I hurt my shoulder shoveling the 6 inches of snow we got. It proved two things: I'm horribly out of shape, and someone swapped the important bits of my body with an eighty year old's.

I'm listening to Bruckner's Mass 2 on XM Radio. It's beautiful in it's chanting goodness. I'm sure there's all kind of religious stuff I'd disagree with, but being in a foreign language, I can appreciate it for the music instead.

And because I'm a geek, it'd make good action movie music. Guns blazing, people dying. Slow motion. It would be a powerful scene.

Told my mother that I have to start actively looking for a place to live, that I can't stand living in a house with my grandmother. My insomnia is only fueled by the fact the TV next to me is blaring at 24 hours a day, and when I try sleeping in my quiet room (of which I love. I love me some good silence) I can hear the programming quite clearly.

Today I got to hear the conversation where my father told her to take pity on me because I'm a depressed sop with a degenerative disease.

IT MAKES IT SO MUCH BETTER NOW.
